Objection: "Too Much Hassle to Switch"
Address the fear of a painful migration directly instead of only re-selling the product's benefits.
How it sounds
- Buyer Switching everything over sounds like a huge headache.
- You What's the part of switching you're actually worried about, the setup or something breaking mid-way?
- You Lay out exactly what the migration looks like on their side, step by step.
- Result A vague fear becomes a specific, plannable process, which is much less scary.
The full entry
This objection is about effort and risk, not the product itself, and answering it with more product benefits misses the point entirely. It is common practice across implementation-heavy sales, not a named technique with a documented origin.
Ask what specifically they are picturing: “What’s the part of switching you’re actually worried about, the setup or something breaking mid-way?” Then replace the vague fear with a concrete picture: “Here’s exactly what week one looks like on your side: {{Step1}}, then {{Step2}}, and {{WhoOwnsWhat}}.” A named timeline with named owners is far less frightening than an unspecified “we’ll figure it out.”
It works especially well paired with a real reference from a customer who made the same switch. The mistake is downplaying the effort to close faster; if the migration is genuinely hard, say so and show the plan for handling it, because the buyer will find out either way, just later and angrier.
